Pheasant Hunting

Tim offers an experience that is simply not available anywhere else as the Super Bowl Champ guides every hunt on his picturesque hunting preserve in Weiser, Idaho. Tim has been described by guests as incredibly down to earth while he personally makes sure every client is able to share some of his time, attention, jokes and endless football stories! From day hunts to multiple overnight stays, the Lazy Bear Ranch offers an unparalleled intimate setting. Only one group is scheduled per hunt so be confident in the exclusivity of the lodge, amenities and Tim’s attention! The Lazy Bear Lodge is an upscale combination of outdoor adventure and sport history. Immense detail in both hunting and dining experiences are only second to specifically designed functional pheasant habitat, exceptionally trained dogs and professional guiding.

Lazy Bear Ranch is rewriting the book and changing perceptions about visiting a shooting preserve. Our goal is to create a wild pheasant hunting experience that will charm even the most critical and experienced hunter. Since establishment in 2005, the Lazy Bear Ranch has continually had a 98% repeat client relationship which is why we say “Quality has no Competition!”

PACKAGES

  • These day hunts are fully guided and include 7 rooster pheasants for each hunter and a delicious lunch at our lodge. Prices are based on a 4 hunter minimum. Hours of operation are 10 AM to 3 PM.  Bird cleaning is not included but can be prearranged. Prices below do not include Idaho State Sales Tax nor licensing.

  • Our overnight stays incorporate some exceptional opportunities! First class accommodations in our brand-new Lazy Bear Ranch Guest Suites. Twelve rooms fitted with King-size beds, private bathroom, luxury linens and spa towels. Dinners and breakfast prepared by our Chef in our also brand new commercial kitchen. Included are non-alcoholic beverages, guiding and bird cleaning. The lazy Bear Ranch has a “full liquor license and bar” we will take care of all your adult beverage needs. Please nooutside alcohol is permitted.
All overnight guests can take advantage of our newly fabricated “Duck Blind” located on the Weiser River. Go down in the evening before dinner or get up early pre-breakfast and see how the wild birds are flying before you enjoy your pheasant hunt. Wild Quail are also available to overnight guests as well.
Because these birds are wild you must be in season and have appropriate licensing. We shoot Quail when we are out on our pheasant hunts. *All Packages Based on 4 hunter minimum.

  • The pride of the Lazy Bear Ranch is the quality of both the birds and the dogs. You will not find wilder flushing, harder flying pheasant anywhere!  Tim personally trains the dogs he works, and they are endlessly complimented by clients.

    Tim likes to say “one shouldn’t brag about your hunting dog until after they die, but it is too hard not to!”

    All joking aside, a major differentiating factor in hunts with Tim are the Lazy Bear’s English Pointers and their remarkable ability to find birds and retrieve.  It is truly a joy to watch these dogs work as they help make the your Lazy Bear experience over the top!

    DOG TRAINERS SPECIAL

  • BIRD CLEANING

    

    • There is NO bird cleaning station on premises.

    • We provide a Bird Cleaning Service for the following rates:

    ◦ BREASTED – $3.00

    ◦ BREAST & LEGS – $3.85

    • Washed and put in Ziplock freezer bags.

    • Bird Cleaning Service must be reserved PRIOR TO ARRIVAL.

    • Bird Cleaning services are for overnight stays only.

BOOKING POLICY AND FORMS

The Following Applies to all Hunts:

  • Advanced Reservations are required.

  • 4 Hunter minimum required.

  • 50% deposit must be made to confirm reservations.

  • Deposit is forfeited if you cancel less than 30 days prior to hunt or do not show for day of hunt.  Have standbys ready!

  • Hunting Season is September through March.

  • Please arrive at 9:30am on the day of your hunt, unless otherwise arranged.

  • Lazy Bear Ranch Lodge accommodations are NOT included in the price, unless noted.

  • Guests must provide transportation to and from the preserve.

  • Additional Birds added to hunt are $40 each.

  • Bird cleaning is available and recommended

  • We will do our best to reschedule extreme weather days

  • Prices subject to change without notice.

We will not hunt when it is “wet” this is at our discretion to protect the quality of our hunts and not to waste your money. Prices subject to change without notice.

LICENSING
To buy an Idaho hunting license, all hunters must show proof that they have completed a hunter education course if they were born on or after January 1, 1975, unless they have held a valid hunting license from Idaho or another state.

(This means if you have ever hunted anywhere at anytime and have proof of it… an old hunting license, bring it with you when you’re getting your license. Only applicable for people born after 1/1/75.  If you were born before that, you’re an old fart and they will trust that you have hunted before or that you are old enough to be responsible.)

  • To hunt at the Lazy Bear Ranch you need one of the following: A valid Idaho hunting license or a “Shooting Preserve Permit”

  • If you are an Idaho resident it is a better value to buy a hunting license.

  • Non-resident hunters, if you only plan on hunting at the Lazy Bear Ranch, the best value is to buy the “Shooting Preserve Permit”

  • You can get the “SPP” any place Idaho hunting licenses are sold and on the Idaho Department of Fish & Game website.

  • If the person at the F&G kiosk can’t find the button to push to help you buy your “SPP”, tell them it’s under permits and licenses in the Non-resident area of their screen.  The SPP will cost you $23.75, and it is not the MMA permit.
